Just wanted to welcome all our friends and customers old and new, to our seasonal update, we want to let you know what’s been happening recently at The York Priory.

We have a new selection of Red, White and Rose wines and spirits on offer and plenty of soft drinks too!! During the summer months we have started to include tap filtered bottled water in the bedrooms and for the light sleepers complimentary earplugs can be requested from reception.
From the 30 September 2013, Sky Sports will be available in The York Priory Bar, Yey !!!!! This will be a nice surprise for our sport orientated customers, who would prefer to just sit and chill instead of the sightseeing and shopping that York is famous for. Lee our bar and entertainment manager, will be looking forward to entertaining you there, being a local lad (and a loyal York City fan) he will enjoy exchanging football banter and yarns.
Also from 30 September 2013, ALL Superior Bedrooms will have the full sky home package including movies (excluding Sky Sports). This tv package will also be available in Room 201 adjoining family room, in the main bedroom only. The rest of the bedrooms will still have the standard freeview package.
Due to high volume of enquiries, for the very FIRST TIME The York Priory have decided to open our doors to guests, from 27 December 2013 and will stay open until New Years Eve (we will be closed on New Years Day). We are going to have a guest and family party on the 31 Dec 13, to see in new 2014!! All our guest that book for these dates are welcome to join us celebrating the end of 2013 and start of 2014. There will be a finger buffet and snacks, music and perhaps some games etc. The bar will stay open until the early hours. However, we do intend to serve breakfast a little later on New Years Day, it will be served the between 9.30 am and 10.30 am, Do not be disappointed, book now, please call 01904 819022 or enquire at reception about the availability of accommodation for New Year’s Eve, we would love to share it with you.
We continue to listen to feedback and make improvements wherever we can.
Many thanks to family and friends for your continued support in loving my business.

I was invited to a behind the scenes event by Visit York at The York Racecourse.
This was a fabulous event taking us into areas where the public would not be allowed to go. The Weighing room, the Changing rooms and The Stewards room. We were entertained with insights and stories by William Derby Chief Executive & Clerk of the Course, James Brennan Head of Marketing and Sponsorship and Tony Lee Operations Manager.
It made me realise in particular just how lucky we are to have such a fantastic race course. Easy to see why they call it the Ascot of the North.
I also didnt realise just how many different events they hosted throughout the year all nothing to do with racing at all.
Whilst we were there Gillian Cruddas reminded members of the Scandanavian Choir Tour which is a free event in York on 26th may 2012. Fun evening of music and song from Scandinavia and England! 4 Norwegian choirs will perform as part of their weekend festival in York: Nordstrandkoret, Unn-koret, Porsgrunn Sangforening and Ostre Gausal Sangkor.
Plus for some local flavour the South Bank Singers from York and the Four Quarters Quartet from Ryedale.
The Harrogate Flower Show is well worth a visit whilst visiting if you are visiting York around 26th – 29th April 2012.
Its run by the RHS and is often refered to as the Chelsea of the North.
There are gardens diplays, flowers, stalls, demonstrations, Flower arrangement competitons Cookery Demos
Harrogate is only 20 miles from York so is an easy distance to visit the show.
Do have a look around Harrogate town whilst visiting its a quaint little spa town.
Just been into the city to view the Coca Cola Truck. Its just like a party there are people everywhere. I cannot believe what excitement this has created.
