***New***
From the 30 September 2013, Sky Sports will be available in The York Priory Bar, Yey !!!!!  This will be a nice surprise for our sport orientated customers, who would prefer to just sit and chill instead of the sightseeing and shopping that York is famous for.  Lee our bar and entertainment manager, will be looking forward to entertaining you there, being a local lad (and a loyal York City fan) he will enjoy exchanging football banter and yarns.

Also from 30 September 2013,  ALL Superior Bedrooms will have the full sky home package including movies (excluding Sky Sports). This tv package will also be available in Room 201 adjoining family room, in the main bedroom only. The rest of the bedrooms will still have the standard freeview package.

Due to high volume of enquiries, for the very FIRST TIME The York Priory have decided to open our doors to guests, from 27 December 2013 and will stay open until New Years Eve (we will be closed on New Years Day). We are going to have a guest and family party on the 31 Dec 13, to see in new 2014!!  All our guest that book for these dates are welcome to join us celebrating the end of 2013 and start of 2014. There will be a finger buffet and snacks, music and perhaps some games etc. The bar will stay open until the early hours.  However, we do intend to serve breakfast a little later on New Years Day, it will be served the between 9.30 am and 10.30 am, Do not be disappointed, book now, please call 01904 819022 or enquire at reception about the availability of accommodation for New Year’s Eve, we would love to share it with you.

We continue to listen to feedback and make improvements wherever we can.

Many thanks to family and friends for your continued support in loving my business.

York Christmas Fayre

The last weekend in November marks the start of the Christmas season in York with the yearly event ST NICHOLAS FAYRE. It is the most lovely event with heaps of festive charm and cheer. St Nicks Fayre is a famous Christmas market situated in various locations over the city with a mixture of crafts, food, homemade and local produce. People travel from miles around to visit the Fayre and complete their Christmas shopping. These are some of the images I took over the weekend.

Visiting York in The Half Term

If you are looking for things to do whilst visiting york in the half term here are some exciting suggestions for the kids.

Illuminating York Where York is bathed in digital light shows for tourists and locals alike

Celebrate Halloween at York Maze where the kids can get into ‘the spirit’ of things.

The NRM big fun with little trains

Remember its not just about the History its also about the present. We love York

Start early for Christmas shopping

Around this time we start to think of the kids returning to school and the autumn months ahead. Suddenly we acknowledge that Christmas is just 16 weeks away. Now is the time to start preparing. Don’t get caught out with the snowy weather like last year, start your shopping early.

We have a great solution
We have a regular group of ladies who are sisters but live in 4 separate corners of the UK. They meet up here every year for the weekend. They buy all their Christmas shopping then spend their evenings wrapping all their pressies together in their rooms drinking wine and listening to music laughing giggleing and generally enjoying each others company

What an excellent way to deal with all that Christmas shopping.

If this appeals to you The York Priory has started reducing the prices on our our midweek and Sunday nights leading up to Christmas. It is always best to call the reception team 44 (0)1904 819022 to discuss the availability, rates and make a booking
